The nature of the partnership
The main purpose of this project is to prevent school abandoning byRoma children from Gherla and also by children from socially and financially disadvantaged families from Gherla and nearby villages. Other purposes are to involve the local community in finding solutions for school abandoning, developing social and relational abilities for the family members of the children who are in danger to abandon the school, and finding ways to encourage school attendance and to involve teachers in tutoring Roma children.
Short description of the project
The main activities are school tutoring for 40 Roma children and children from socially and financially disadvantaged families, psichopedagogic evaluation, extracurricular activities meant to develop childrens’ skills, talents and abilities (in camps, Christmas and Easter special programs and other educative activities). To prevent school abandoning for Roma children, „Open Doors“ Foundation deploys a preschooler educational program for 10 Roma children because we believe that before school, the children must inure with school enviroment, socializing skills, hygiene rules needed for a later enrolment in public school system.
